Privacy Policy

The short version

This site is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no comments, no advertising and no tracking pixels. If you read a guide and leave, we do not know who you are.

What we collect

Server logs

Our web host records standard access logs when a page is served: IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page and your browser's user agent string. These are used for security and to diagnose errors, and they are retained for a short period by the host before being deleted.

Analytics

If analytics are in use on this site, they are configured to be privacy-respecting: no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, and IP addresses anonymised or not stored. We look at aggregate numbers such as which guides are read, not at individuals.

Email

If you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to reply and for a reasonable period afterwards. We do not add it to any mailing list and we do not share or sell it.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies for advertising, personalisation or cross-site tracking. Your browser may store its own data such as cache entries, which is standard behaviour and is not something we control or read.

Third parties

Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Google's handling of that data is covered by its own privacy policy. Aside from fonts and our hosting provider, this site does not embed third-party scripts, trackers, social widgets or advertising.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Since we hold almost nothing, the answer is usually short. Email [email protected] and we will respond.

Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights, including the right to know and to delete. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in state privacy law.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
